     RISK INDEX:  Tabulated with 1998 data demonstrating community risk indicators in county of residence: i.e., violence, crime, poverty, alcohol accessibility, family dysfunction, academic failure, drug arrests, etc., as organized in an ecological risk framework based upon the Social Development Risk adn Protective Factor research model (Hawkins, Catalano & Miller, 1992).  The Youth Risk Index is computed from risk indicators reflecting youth whose family environments, behavior, or psychological development place them at higher risk for alcohol and substance abuse.
